Jam 1:2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4 Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. NIV
How can you have “JOY” when you are going through trials? It comes down to verse 3 and 4. Verse 3 says, “testing of your faith develops perseverance”. Well why do I want to have perseverance in going through trials? Because of verse 4, “Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” So by our trials we are made mature and complete. If only we could keep our perspective as we are going through the tough times in life.
It’s kind of like going on a long hike. Your legs burn, your chest hurts, blisters on your feet. Do you quit because it hurts? No, you push on because you know at the end of your trail is a breath taking view. Heck you even manage to crack a smile through the pain as you anticipate the reward for completing the trail or should I say trial.
