Fearless by Eric Blehm book review

Fearless is a great book of  an American hero that we all long to be. Our hero overcomes obstacles over and over again. He just has a spirit that won’t give up. He refused to be a victim, he choose to be a over comer. We all could learn this valuable lesson in life.
This book does have a little graphic content to it so I would recommend it for ages 13 and up. This is a must read for ever guy ho wanted to be or do more. To live a life of adventure and integrity. Men it’s time to do the right thing and lead by example.

After reading the book I passed it along to a friend who said that it was so good he couldn’t put it down.

This book was give to me by the publisher for my honest review.

Soulprint: Discovering Your Divine Destiny – Book Review

Soulprint: Discovering Your Divine Destiny by Mark Batterson

I was first introduced to Mark Batterson in his book In A Pit With A Lion On A Snowy Day. It was a life changing book for me. When I received this one to review I was not disappointed.

The book is based on the story of King David’s life and relationship with God and how it applies to us. God saw more in David then he ever saw in himself. The same is true for us. Even though we might have blown it before or are now, it’s never to late to be who and do what God intended you to do. He has some great things in store for us.

The book includes a study guide in the back that would work great for a small group study or  for more depth on your own. This is a book I would recommend to my friends.

A complimentary copy of Soulprint by Mark Batterson was provided for review by the WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group.

Fight For Your City!

Have we forgotten how to fight?

What images does the word “FIGHT” stir up in your mind?  Is it a lawsuit? Is it yelling and screaming? Is it a full scale war? Is it a UFC match? For me the first thing that comes to mind is a UFC title match. I love to watch this sport. There aren’t a lot of sports where you see the athlete give everything they have. In the majority of the fights everything is left out in the cage. If you don’t bring your all, your going to get hurt and hurt bad.

Then today I came across this in the bible. “Be courageous! Let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. May the Lord’s will be done. (2 Samuel 10:12) This was spoken by Joab to his brother as they were going out to war against a mighty army. A mighty army that wanted to defeat them. Joab and his brother committed all to God for the PEOPLE. Not for themselves, not because it was what they are supposed to do, not because they are told to. They did it FOR THE PEOPLE.

It made me think about the people in my city. Am I fighting for them? What is my definition of fighting when it pertains to them? Is it giving all I have to try and show the people God’s love? Is it doing it only when it’s convenient? Am I being courageous? Am I fighting bravely? Or am I just being a cheer leader. When things are going good and it’s an easy fight, is that when I jump in? Unfortunately I have to answer yes most of the time. I think if we are honest with ourselves most of us will say we are cheer leaders.

It’s time for us to take a stand, be courageous and FIGHT for the PEOPLE in our city. Not just when it’s convenient or when it’s not messy but when it is filthy and inconvenient. Can you imagine the difference in our cities if people started fighting for each other?

The Noticier by Andy Andrews

Just finished an incredible book called “The Noticer” by Andy Andrews. At first look I thought what kind of story can be captured on only 156 pages. Boy did I get a schooling. I was hooked from the first chapter. It has changed my perspective on life in a huge way.

The story all takes place in the town of Orange Beach, Alabama. A gentleman named Jones, not Mr. Jones just simply Jones was making life changing differences for so many people. Jones was all about perspective. It was amazing to see how peoples lives changed because of a new perspective.

The words of wisdom in this book are incredible. I have post it notes on my desk top with different quotes in it from the book. That is not normal for me. I am looking forward to rereading it again. Which I rarely reread a book.

A town of people where changed forever in the story of the book. A world of people will be changed forever by reading this book.

The Ulrich’s are moving to Boise

I bet that got everyones attention. lol. It has been a long time since I have wrote and obviously a lot has been happening. First let me tell you that we are all doing great. God has been so good to us.

The above headline is true. We are moving to Boise in August. God is blessing us with an awesome opportunity to help with a church plant there. It has been something that Verla and I have always wanted to do. We are going with an incredible team. I will be posting more about it in the future.

My main reason to start this conversation is I am looking for prayer coverage. We are going to be in a huge spiritual battle and need your prayer protection. Would you please join us in prayer daily for this. I will send out an update every few weeks with specific prayer needs and praises. If you are willing, please send me an email at hikeoflife@gmail.com

Thanks so much everyone,

Jeff

When crap turns to CRAP!!!

Thirsty

“If you’ll hold on to me for dear life,” says God,
“I’ll get you out of any trouble.
I’ll give you the best of care
if you’ll only get to know and trust me.
Call me and I’ll answer, be at your side in bad times;
I’ll rescue you, then throw you a party.
I’ll give you a long life,
give you a long drink of salvation!”
Psalm 91:14-16 (The Message)
